Damn I cant wait till I get my copy of GT4, won't be for a couple weeks though 'cause I'm getting that shit free. How's the game though? Am I gonna love it and never wanna go to work or leave my house or something like that? Damn, I'm excited I stared at it at Best Buy the other day looks cool as shit. Guess I better beat my other game I just bought first though, but tell me how that shit is.

i didnt read all of this cuz i dont care about GT4, but im sure you guys will be interested:

yep, you read right, gt4 ONLINE. And its simple once you know what youre doing. Those who know this method know what im talking about.

pretty much what you need is a pc program called xlink kai. some of you may have heard of it, but its a program that uses your computer as a link to others over the internet, as if it were lan. Gran turismo 4 has a lan option, and that is why this is possible.

confused? dont worry about it. most dont know what they're doing when they try it, but if done right, you'll have a great online experience with little to no lag

here's how it works. Go to xlink kai website, www.teamxlink.co.uk

download the program and register a name. when youre done with that, go to the playstation 2 channel and gt4, then pick the area you wish to go to (americas, europe, etc.)

there you will see many players doing the same, sort of like a gamespy chatroom. click the question mark in the top right to go into chat with everyone else.

now you could either join a game or host one, and after that its time to turn on your ps2.

go into options first, then the lan options. if you are hosting, put yes on host. if not, put no.

put # of players to 1, monitors 1 if you are hosting.

i you are not hosting you dont have to do anything here, unless you hosted before then you have to change it back. it should be set to "no" by default

get out and wait at menu screen.

now you have to wait for everybody else to do the same. once everybody is at the menu screen, you could continue.

go into arcade mode, and make a new config called "lan", it should be on auto detect, authentification-no, use dhcp- yes, and use auto dns- yes. save it and that is what you'll use all the time for this.

dont use it yet though. this is the tricky part. everyone has to join one by one, last being the host (this is important, if the host doesnt join last it wont work) each player has to use their config and wait for a screen that says "waiting for connection" or "wfc" as some like to call it. once one player has the wfc screen, the next one tries, and once they're done, the next one tries, and so on. you have to go one at a time or else the cpu of the host would be stressed too much and it wont work. once all the non-hosts are wfc, the host uses his/her config and you should be done

wait a minute for everything to work. You may be in the wfc screen for a while. the more players you have the longer it takes

once that is done, you should be ready to race. pick a track and a car and enjoy online play

i did everything you asked, and it didnt work! what is going on?

well the question is whether you did something wrong. if you hosted too early, or used the wfc screen before you joined the arena, it wont work. however another thing could cause this. the wfc screen could only be used once per ps2 startup. if you join another game, you have to restart both xlink and the ps2, in that order. if you dont it will be confused because the ip you detected before doesnt match the one you have now. so restart both and try again.

If that doesnt work, your router may not have any ports open or may have just one. you need more open to play with more people, or so ive heard. opening ports on your router depends on what brand you have so go to their respective websites.

Can i load my gt mode cars into this?

no. sorry, but you can go through the list of cars in arcade mode and pick your favorites by pressing "up" on the d pad. those favorites will appear on your car list in the car select when you get a game working.

those are all the problems ive gone through and learned to fix, i dont know if there are others but once you are experienced, the process is in fact very easy. Have fun!
