OFFICIAL e-SEALs SOCOM II TOURNAMENT WRAP UP
When we last left you, the e-SEALs Tournament was down to a final 32 Clans all fiercely battling their way to the top spot and the Grand Prize. I want to give you a brief run down of the final rounds and announce the overall winner. So let’s get started!
A TRUE WARRIOR FIGHTS 'TIL THE END
Although we can ultimately only have one winner, a number of the Clans making it into the Stealthy 16 and Explosive 8 put up one hell of a fight! In the Alpha Sector, Quiet Storm gave LiQuiD ZeRo a definite run for their money, pushing them all the way to the end of the last map before bowing out (A great effort on their part and, as it turns out, the ONLY Clan throughout the entire Tournament to beat LiQ on any map!).
N@ked Gamers made it all the way up to the Formidable 4 to represent Bravo Sector and had to beat some stiff competition in the process, especially considering they had to go up against ENEMY and the Assassins (two well respected and highly touted Clans) in the rounds preceding their match up with LiQ.
In Yankee Sector, Frost Fire Xtreme and ADVANCED COMBAT OPS faced off in the Explosive 8 in a match some of the Moderators called "The single best match up in the entire Tournament!" Even with some great tactical surprises and good teamwork, ACO just couldnt outlast FFX's firepower.
FFX survived that match to make it to the Formidable 4 but was bested by the Zulu Sector winner, Awakened Rage. But even aR had some really tough competition in the Explosive 8 as @nutz@ was coming off back to back shut outs and looked like they would bulldoze their way into the Finals. Alas, Awakened Rage wanted a date with LiQuiD ZeRo and stepped up their play to ensure a victory.
Overall, the last few rounds saw some epic battles between the best Clans in the SOCOM community. If you want to have a chance next time you might want to start practicing!
DOWNLOADABLE UPDATE IN LINE WITH TOURNAMENT RULES
Before the beginning of the fifth round of Tournament play, SCEA and Zipper Interactive introduced a new SOCOM II online update that fixed a number of tweaks used by players to gain an unfair advantage in the game. The update addressed a diverse lineup of exploits and created a much more balanced playing field for all players. It also had a decisive impact on our Tournament as well. Most of the issues corrected were directly in line with the rules and game play guidelines initiated at the beginning of our Tournament. Since the Moderators no longer needed to worry about game play inconsistencies they could focus more on the game play action and in addressing other concerns such as weapon exclusions and map statistics. The update also helped Clans focus on their tactics and teamwork as the game play was much smoother after the update was instituted. Overall, the online update made it much easier to run the Tournament and took a lot of the stress off Moderators and e-SEALs Command administrators. So a big thanks to SCEA and Zipper Interactive for their continued dedication to this great game!
TOURNAMENT WINNER "LiQ's" THE COMPETITION
Well it’s been a fun filled and adventurous Tournament but we have finally reached the end! I would like to announce that your winner of the 2004 Official e-SEALs SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs Tournament is:
LiQuiD ZeRo
The humble, yet not so bold predictions of many of our members came true on Sunday night under the watchful eyes of both e-SEALs Command and some well respected Moderators. So, congratulations to all the members of LiQuiD ZeRo in securing a hard fought victory in the face of constant adversity. For their efforts in this Tournament, LiQ members will split a Grand Prize of $1,200 cold hard cash (about $120 a piece), the Tournament MVP (UnRiVaLeD) will also receive a brand new PlayStation 2 console and a new copy of SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, and the leader (HeXuM) will be the proud own of a new Sony DV Video Camera!
But let's not forget all the other teams in the Formidable Four: N@ked Gamers, Frost Fire Xtreme, and Awakened Rage whose members all played valiantly in their quest for the title. These members will also receive awards for taking their Clan so far into the tournament. But we couldn't have had so much fun without all 244 Clans that entered the Tournament and helped to promote the e-SEALs through the SOCOM II community. Thank you one and all for your participation.
Finally, I would like to say a special thank you to our e-SEALs Moderators which helped to make this Tournament fair and fun for all members. They dedicated hours of their free time, without pay, to watch countless matches so Clans could be ensured of an equitable outcome. Without their help, this Tournament could not have gone as smoothly as it did. I respect each and every one of you and want to personally thank you again for everything that you have done in the past 2 months to make this Tournament a success!
Head to the Forums and congratulate all of the winners. Even though they're getting money and prizes I'm sure they'd like to hear from you as well.
Keep your eyes on the site and newsletters for upcoming developments in the e-SEALs community.

ZIPPER INTERACTIVE WANTS A PIECE OF THE ACTION
Throughout our Tournament, the development team over at Zipper Interactive has been paying close attention to which Clans have been advancing. They read up on the message boards and collected as much information as possible on battle tendencies, maneuvers, and specific Clans' combat tactics to help them create a battle plan of their own. So now that we have declared a winner to our 2004 Tournament, Zipper wants a chance to see how good the e-SEALs really are!
The e-SEALs are proud to present a battle to end all battles, a mêlée of monstrous proportions, possible emancipation for the malcontent, validation for new champs, and a chance for you to watch!
