This is an unmonitored email address, please do not respond. February 17, 2005 MICROSOFT ANNOUNCES POWER CORD REPLACEMENT FOR XBOX Dear Xbox Customer: I am writing to provide you with information about a free power cord replacement program for Xbox. Microsoft has chosen to replace the power cords on Xbox consoles manufactured before October 23, 2003. Our records indicate that you may own one of these consoles. We are providing replacement power cords because component failure in a small number of consoles - fewer than 1 in 10,000 - has caused burning inside the console or melting of the power cord where it connects to the console. Microsoft has designed the replacement power cords to protect you and your Xbox from these component failures and a potential fire hazard. Check the manufacture date on the bottom of your console. No action is necessary if your console was manufactured on or after October 23, 2003. If your console was manufactured before October 23, 2003, go to www.xbox.com and click on Power Cord Replacement for Xbox to get a free replacement power cord. If you are unable to access this website, please call 1-866-271-0450. Your new cord should arrive in two to four weeks. Until you receive and install your replacement power cord, turn off your Xbox when it's not in use. We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Robbie Bach Senior Vice President, Home & Entertainment Division Microsoft Corporation

not taking sides arsenal, but if i only have to replace a power cord that is good. i have had to replace a whole fucking ps2 because the shit stopped playing the games with purple backs, then stopped playing 80% of my games. that being said i know of 75% of peeps that have had to replace their ps2 cuz the shit stopped playing games.

if you have the old ps2, it wont play old discs (the blue ones) that doesnt mean theres something wrong with it. the blue discs barely work on newer ps2s, ive tried.
with that said, if your ps2 doesnt play regular games, then theres something wrong with it. i still have the original ps2, with the original controllers, and unlike the stories ive heard from everyone else, ive never had to replace my ps2 or any of its parts. ive heard about more people having to replace there xboxs than i have the ps2s for legitimate reasons.
fortunately, sony knows how to make power cords.

i had the first ps2 when it dropped and i had to replace it because the shit stopped playing a lot of games. like i said i would rather a company relize a problem (a small one with a power cord) and resolve it with a free replacement. rather then me having to go buy another ps2 @ $199 w/network adapter (before price drop). there are a lot of companies that have problems with product and address it with replacment. i have a HP printer same problem with xbox (power cord may catch unit on fire), they sent me a new one free of charge. at my local EB, they say they get returns on ps2's 8 to every 2 xbox's. EB says right now they are having problem's with people returning the new ps2's, cuz the network adapters are not working right on them. got a friend who had to trade someone his new ps2 with an older ps2 just to get on socom.
don't get me wrong i love sony products (ask trigga & jester), thats all i own 4 tv's, 3 dvd players, stereo equipment, touch panel remote, the list goes on with sony stuff. and out of all the sony products i own the ps2 is the only thing from them that has given me a problem. if they had addressed the ps2 problem with a free repair, it would have been cool.

the only legitimate problem that ps2 has had to this point is the disk read error (the same thing we are talkin about, the blue disc problem). the only reason it was even an issue is because everyone assumed there was something wrong with their playstations which wasnt the case, and they tried to force their systems to work. when you use the system enough, it becomes accustom to reading particular kinds of discs (the silver ones). once you go back (to the blue ones), it it has difficulty reading them. they attempted to fix this, and they did it for free until they produced so many games on silver disc that there was no need for anyone to be using the old ones anymore. anything else that happens to someones ps2 is negligence, not a mass ps2 problem.

all i know is my ps2 sat in an entertainment center from when i bought it, till it broke. the shit stopped playing blue & silver discs. the only discs that would play was if the game just came out of the wrapper.

My PS2 doesn't play the blue disc games either, but it obviously plays the silver back discs. I asked some dude at EB about it and they basically said what you guys are talking about, but he told me that my PS2 was considered non-working and that I should buy a new one. I was like fuck that, I have an HDD and just cause I can't play some bullshit ass blue disc games I should dole out more cash...I don't think so. I'll keep mine until it burns to the ground. Getting back to the X-Box... I've never had any problems with the console, but I've heard of them burning out regularly. Sony should make better consoles giving the fact that they've been making them far longer than Microsoft. I think the X-Box is probably the best thing to happen to the gaming industry. Not only do they make quality games, but they drive Sony's prices down and make the market more competitive, which works in the favor of the consumers (us). There is no online game better than Socom, but the rest of the X-Box bashing is just hateration.

its no secret that i hate in all aspects of life, not just xbox. but everything i say is based on fact, i wont make anything up to belittle it.
like ive said before, i really do want to buy an xbox, but the only thing that holds any meritt to me is halo and thats not enough for me to buy it. the other games and features, i couldnt care less about.

i think both are pretty uninteresting, but ive had limited experience with xbox so id have to go with muffin as the least favorable of the two. not to mention she has it. thats more reason for me not to.

Socom is really bad when it comes to lagg and getting booted.Thats one thing I like about the Xbox is less of both.Sony may need to start charging for online gaming so it can have the same results as the Xbox Live. That might be something for them to think about when PS3 drops.

Speaking of charging for Sony, Hitman heard from a Game Stop guy that they are gonna charge for Socom 3 online. No clue if it is true though.
